Could the Nightmare on Elm Street remake be the first worthwhile remake since Ocean’s Eleven?

If the casting director has their way, the answer is YES!

Just announced today, Jackie Earle Haley, last seen on screen doing an incredible job as Rorschach in Watchmen, will be putting on the holey sweater, burn makeup and clawed glove and becoming the legendary Freddy Kruger.

The remake of the 80s classic slasher is due to be “darker” and less comical than the Robert Englund-starring original, not too surprising, given that every movie these days is trying to be grittier.

Never the less, this bit of inspired casting has taken this movie from completely uninteresting, straight to interesting.  We’ll see how it turns out.
