I’m not sure if it was Disney’s idea to try to steal the thunder of another big CGI filled 3D sci-fi film by timing the release of these images as they have, but never the less, we have our first look at real media from Tron Legacy, the 2010 sequel to the 1982 seminal computer animation classic.

The details on the flick so far have been super sketchy, but now we have the first poster (above, click for hi-rez), the first still (below, which can be clicked for bigger), and the first synopsis:

TRON: LEGACY is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (GARRETT HEDLUND), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (JEFF BRIDGES), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the digital world of Tron where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant Quorra (OLIVIA WILDE), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey of escape across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

All and all, it’s enough to send nerds like me into a frothing rage of excitement!

Tron Legacy is set to hit theaters in December 2010.
