SHERLOCK HOLMES Was NOT A Graphic Novel!
…but it did, however, have a whole bunch of sweet, comic book styled illustrations which were used to sell the flick.
That’s the concept behind the latest scoop over at comic industry watchdog Bleeding Cool, who noticed that many media outlets were claiming that this Christmas' Robert Downey Jr./Jude Law romp was based on a comic.
To brighten up the news (and why I’m posting this), however, they discovered that artist John Watkiss did do a series of absolutely stunning comic styled illustrations to get across the tone and feel of the film, as a part of the initial pitch packet. I’ve included all of these images in an awesome gallery below.
How accurate was their transition from sketch to screen? Not sure, yet. But we’ll all know when Sherlock Holmes hits theaters on Christmas Day.
