Say what you will about Tim Burton's career, but he has proven time and time again that he is pretty good at adapting other's work.

Sure, he didn’t do the best job with Planet of the Apes, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, and I haven’t seen his more action-y take on Alice in Wonderland, but he did great work with Batman, Pee Wee Herman, Mars Attacks! and Sweeney Todd.

So it should come as little surprise that Burton’s overseeing another adaptation of a classic property.

This time - it’s going to be a 3D, stop motion take on The Addams Family.  This version won’t be based on the classic TV series or the successful 90s films, but instead the original cartoons, putting it even more so in Burton’s wheelhouse.

Honestly, I don’t think there’s a better man for the job - but really, when are we going to get the next great Burton original?  Or is that a long lost pipedream?

EDIT - March 19, 11:50am - Sayeth MTV’s Movie Blog, Burton isn’t doing Addams Family. Boo.
