As a long time member of Team Coco (complete with tickets to his June show in DC), this newsbit has been one I’ve been waiting to write since he went off the air in January. Although, the resolution isn’t one ANY of us had expected.

This November, Conan O’Brien will be returning to television, hosting an original talk show once again…on TBS.

Confused? I was too, but given a few hours to let the thought sit, I became quite excited.

Simply put, TBS is getting Conan to have Conan. Not to fight Leno, not to fight Letterman, not to fight Kimmel, but to get a quality show hosted by one of the true greats on television.  And he’s going to get paid handsomely to do so.  Also, I’m sure the pressure for ratings will be lower, allowing O’Brien to experiment as he likes with the boundaries of talk show TV.

The super class move in all of this?  Given that George Lopez hosts Lopez Tonight on TBS as is, Conan didn’t want to bump a fellow host.  Lopez himself then called Conan and talked him into it!

I’ll be watching day one, and DVRing it every night. I cannot wait.
