One of my favorite things as a kid growing up reading comics was whenever the artist would get the opportunity to do cross section of the hero's secret base, or a map of city.  Not only did it add additional detail to the world, this type of  information gave weight to the story, adding a sense of realism and fullness to the overall comics world.  That, and it reminded me of reading Richard Scarry books.

Unfortunately, in the modern era, these sort of images or documentation have been reduced to the pages of “Official Universe Guides”, or ignored entirely.

It seems I’m not the only one who poured hours over looking at these images, as there’s now an entire blog dedicated to them, entitled Comic Book Cartography.

There’s only 3 pages worth of content so far, but it’s still enough to kill an afternoon, and if updates remain steady, it’ll be a great resource for fans, artists and writers alike.  Well done, mystery blogger!
