With the release of Iron Man 2 this Friday, Marvel Studios isn’t letting up and resting on the laurels of ol' Shellhead.

Why, it’s time to already start the NEXT round of hype! This time, for the Kenneth Brannaugh directed adaptation of Thor!

And now, courtesy of Yahoo!, we have the first official still of Chris Hemsworth as Thor.

Truly, the Odinson looks bothered in this strangely close up still, and it establishes a darker tone from the onset for this Marvel adaptation.  The costume looks solid, from what we can see, but noticeable from it’s absence are both the trademark helmet and hammer.  I can understand the lack of helmet, as honestly, it can look cheesy (Adventures in Babysitting, anyone?), but where’s Mjolnir? Either way, there’s not a hint of Papa Kirk in him, and just a world weary thundergod.

…oh yeah…

Thor is set to bring thunder and lightning to theaters Summer 2011.
