If you're a fan of JJ Abrams, you're already quite aware...dude loves secrets.

He spearheaded the mystery island drama Lost, he kept his Trek reboot under wraps even with a 6 month delay of release, and if you remember back to the Summer of 2007, he stole the spotlight of Transformers blew us all away with a trailer for a film no one knew about, and everyone wanted to see.

That film was, at the time, just known as 1-18-08, based on it’s release date, but soon became known as the first-person kaiju homage Cloverfield.

At the time, this was absolutely stunning. How could such a high profile filmmaker be behind a film that NO ONE knew about? How could people be SO excited behind a film with NO title?

Well, get ready to do it all again.

Thursday night is the midnight show of Iron Man 2. In a reveal exclusive to HitFix.com, there will be a trailer attached to a surprise JJ Abrams project, which is either titled or codenamed Super 8. What is it? We have no idea.

Here’s what we do know.

  1. It may or may not be Cloverfield related.

  2. It is not the Abrams/Spielberg collaboration.

  3. Whatever it is, it’s under lock and key for even the theater operators until Thursday afternoon.

I’m lucky enough to see Iron Man 2 tonight, but I will also be going to a midnight show on Thursday…I can’t wait to see what this is all about.
