One of the most effective, haunting and memorable films of recent memory, the vampire themed film Let The Right One In made an incredible impression on my consciousness when it was released in the US last year.

The tale of a lonely boy in Sweden who befriends the only person who doesn’t torment or bully him, a girl his age - who just so happens to be a vampire, it’s an absolutely beautifully shot and well put together film.

However, it’s entirely in Swedish, so many folks wouldn’t give it the time of day.

Now, in a move that is either a positive or a negative, a US remake is set for release on October 1st, titled Let Me In.

Little has been released from the film to date, but today the first still of Chloe Moretz (Hit Girl from Kick Ass) as the vampire girl Abby has been released.  And it’s the right vibe of creepy without releasing too much.

Sure,  the names and locations have been changed, but under the direction of Cloverfield’s Matt Reeves, I have the hopes that this remake will hit all the right notes that made the original an absolute blowaway piece of cinema.

If you haven’t seen the original, last I checked, it was available on Netflix streaming. Get on it.
