The unofficial Marvel Studios week here at Blast-O-Rama continues with a long rumored casting finally taking shape!

Since about last Thanksgiving, rumors have been flying fast and furious that The Hurt Locker’s Jeremy Renner would be donning the purple cowl and sweet arrows of Hawkeye for 2012’s The Avengers, and word is, he’s finally signing on!

Renner really made his name in The Hurt Locker, and he showcased a bizarre leadership alongside the skill to play a man who is completely reckless, with no regard for himself.  Putting those skills together with some awesome archery would make for a great Hawkeye, and I hope it all comes together!

The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon, hits theaters in Summer 2012.
