I’m going to go on record and say that the third Resident Evil film, Resident Evil: Extinction was one of the worst, in-theater movie experiences I’ve ever had.

Terrible movie, made all the worse by the super distracting CG work done on Mila Jovovich’s face in closeups, as if to airbrush her in motion. (They used the same effect in the ULTRA terrible Ultraviolet as well).

So to know that they’re doing a FOURTH movie, Resident Evil: Afterlife, and it’ll be in 3D (of course) sent me into a slight conniption fit this morning.

I guess it’s not completely terrible, as they actually bothered to shoot this movie in native 3D (a major difference, kids!), but seriously, is anyone HOUNDING for a fourth Resident Evil movie?

Like - why hasn’t this series hit the reboot phase? I’d love for a new series where each movie is based on each game. But nope, more tired CG’d Jovovich action. And the truly strange way they mention the camera system just feels WRONG in a theatrical trailer.

If it floats your boat, Resident Evil: Afterlife is due to hit theaters on September 10th.
