One of my favorite parts of seeing a Pixar film is knowing that not only you would be getting a great movie, but also a really fun ~10 minute short before the flick.  A throwback to the days of newsreels and cartoons before feature, it makes the theatrical experience feel a little more complete.  This is one of the many reasons why I loved Grindhouse in full…but that’s a post for another day.

It seems I’m not the only one who loves this format for seeing flicks, as Warner Bros is looking to add new Looney Tunes to their movies (as I reported), and in what could be an amazing feature for future superhero films….

Marvel Studios is looking to do the same.

As the rumor goes, Marvel is looking to raise the profile of a number of B and C level heroes by giving them 10 minute shorts in front of the bigger named characters.  There is no set start date for these live-action superhero shorts, but some of the names being tossed around are Black Panther, Luke Cage and Dr. Strange, amongst others.

For one, I am COMPLETELY behind this idea, and if I can get a Luke Cage and Iron Fist short before Avengers, that makes for a goddamn amazing day at the theater. Let’s do this, Disney/Marvel!
