As My Chemical Romance has built their musical empire over the past decade, I cannot say I’ve ever found myself a fan.

Sure, my comicing cohort Nick Borkowicz has been singing their praises for as long as I’ve known him, but they never grabbed my interest.

Until now.

I had already been converted to the creative talents of their lead singer, Gerard Way, ever since he wrote two of the best miniseries to come out of comics in the past few years, The Umbrella Academy, and now with the promotional short film/trailer for their next album, titled The True Lives of The Fabulous Killjoys, I think I might just be interested to see what’s next.

Titled Art is a Weapon (embedded at the top of this post), the bright costumes and almost European feel to the short make me want to see a full length adventure with these characters. It doesn’t hurt that comics god Grant Morrison appears as the villain, either.

Now, here’s the interesting twist.  At San Diego Comic Con 2009, Way announced his next comics project after Umbrella Academy, with one of my favorite artists, Becky Cloonan. The title of that project? Killjoys. Due in 2010.

The plot, it thickens!

I forsee this being some crazy comic, movie, album extravaganza, and I can’t wait to see how it all comes together this November!
