However, the mid 90’s theatrical adaptation, starring Sylvester Stallone, was at best a cheezy action movie and at worst, an absolutely horrible adaptation of it’s source material.

But now, about 15 years later, a new Judge Dredd film is under way.  And the first image of Karl Urban (Star Trek, Doom) as the titular Dredd has been released.

I’ve placed it (naturally) at the top of this post, and by god, if we were judging the film only on visuals, I’d dare say they nailed it.

There is much work ahead on the film, set to start filming this year (the above image was a costume test), but if this is any indiciation, the new Judge Dredd film is starting off on the right foot.
