Summer 2011 is going to be, hands down, the summer of the Marvel movies.

Between Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, you won’t be able to hit your local multiplex without knowing about Marvel Comics, and most importantly, the forthcoming Avengers franchise.

Marvel did all the right things by getting the fanboys excited at San Diego Comic Con this past summer, and “Operation: Convert The General Fanbase” kicks off this week with a brand new poster for Thor (seen above), and a new trailer for the Kenneth Branagh directed flick, due to hit the web later tonight.

As for the poster above, I think it’s a really great image, making Chris Hemsworth look nice and regal, and the relative lack of color makes the cape really stand out.

But how does it look in motion? Stay tuned, as I’ll post the trailer once it hits tonight.
