Kevin Smith, We Meet Again: RED STATE Trailer
Growing up, like most white, middle class teenagers of my generation, I grew to love Kevin Smith.
Mallrats, my favorite of his films. Chasing Amy? Spoke to me in ways no other movie before had (or so I thought). Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back? An absolute party of a film. Hell, I thought the first two Evening With… discs were some of the best DVDs ever created (admittingly, they still hold up).
But sometime after Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, he changed.
The Smodcasts got longer and more vulgar. The twitter feeds, too self involved, shared too much. I just got turned off of the man.
And then Cop Out came out. And sure, if I were him, I’d kill to work with Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan too…but it just wasn’t good.
So now we have a project he’s claimed would be his most difficult, and most different, film to date. Red State.
And I have to say, this trailer is and was enough to make me forget how much I’ve over-learned about the man over the past few years. This trailer is VERY stark, VERY interesting and has me wanting to see it in March.
Don’t eff this up, Kevin.
