Do We Really Need A KNOCKED UP Sequel?
Judd Apatow sure thinks so.
Freshly announced by Universal Pictures, the uber producer/director’s next film is set for a June 1st, 2012 release, and the subject matter may surprise you - it’s going to be a sequel to Knocked Up.
But perhaps not the sequel you’re expecting. His next film, which is thus far untitled, will continue the story of Leslie Mann and Paul Rudd’s characters. Seth Rogen has gone on record as saying that he isn’t cast for the film, so presumably neither will Katherine Heigl. Overall, I cannot figure the story set for this, but I assume that if Apatow is choosing this as his next project, there’s a reason.
Part of me worries that this is a “safety” play after the overall failure of Funny People, a movie I really enjoyed, but as with all things Apatow, since his name is on it, I’m willing to give it ago.
What do you think? Should this be the first of many Apatow sequels? Do you want to see the 41-Year Old Virgin? Superbad 2? Sound off in the comments.
