This could end up great!

Announced over the weekend, cable network FX has officially picked up an adaptation of the fantastic creator-owned comic Powers to pilot.

If you’ve never read Powers before, you’ve been missing out.  Written by amazing comic auteur Brian Michael Bendis (before he ran the Marvel Universe proper), it’s a detective drama set in a world where superpowers are relatively common and centers on two detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, in a Homicide department that deals with cases involving “powers” (people with superpowers).

Without giving too much away about the characters, just know it’s been an amazing read, and I think it will end up an even more amazing TV show.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television, the pilot will be written by Charles H. Eglee (who produced The Walking Dead TV series), and even has the same production team, Circle of Confusion, who oversaw Walking Dead’s amazing success.

If all that wasn’t enough to make nerds excited, it seems we have our Deena!

Battlestar Galactica star Katee Sackhoff has twittered about wanting the role, and even hinted on her Twitter that she’s had some meetings about it.

If you’re not sure if she’s the right person, let’s compare a photo of her to Deena (the blond in the main image above).

Yeah, I thought so.

No set date for Powers, but here’s hoping everything lines up well and we get the series to air soon!
