I don’t know about you, dear reader, but of all the comic book movie set to hit theaters this summer, Captain America: The First Avenger is the one I’m most looking forward to.

With the great casting of Chris Evans as Cap, and a fantastical, Indiana Jones feel from the trailer, it really feels like it’s firing on all cylinders.

Now, with Entertainment Weekly getting an exclusive first image, I think it’s safe to say this…

Hugo Weaving looks absolutely perfect as the Red Skull.

A full piece on the film is at EW.com, linked below, and I definitely feel it’s worth reading, if only to confirm that Joe Johnston is the right guy to direct the film.

Example, here’s Johnston on why Cap fights Nazi’s so damn hard.

Yeah, for Steve Rogers it’s a very personal thing. At one point he says, “I don’t like bullies, I don’t care where they’re from." He makes a complete physical transformation to a perfect human specimen. But inside he doesn’t change at all. It must be tempting to go back and say “I’m going to get that guy who beat me up in high school." He does get revenge in the film, but on the Nazis — not on people who maybe picked on him. Before he gets the injection, the doctor tells him: “Whatever happens, stay who you are."
Captain America: The First Avenger hits theaters on July 22, 2011.
