One of my all time favorite movies is 2006’s Stranger Than Fiction.

A rare dramatic role for Will Farrell, it’s the surreal and touching tale of Harold Crick, an IRS agent who’s life is rather uneventful, until the day he realizes he is living in a novel someone else is writing.

Much like The Truman Show in both plot and intent, it was a fantastic showcase for Farrell as a dramatic actor, showing that his ability to completely immerse himself in a character works not just for comedy, but for “proper” acting as well.

Unfortunately, for Farrell, Fiction was a bomb compared to his comedic track record, and all hopes of him doing dramatic roles were lost.

Until now.

This May brings the release of Everything Must Go, a rare independent film for Farrell.  Written and directed by Dan Rush, the movie tells the story of Nick Porter (Farrell) a man who loses his job and his wife leaves him in the same day.  He finds himself on the lawn of what was once his home, his possessions scattered about, and he decides to start selling everything that was him, in an attempt to start anew.

The trailer is embedded above, and honestly, I cannot WAIT for this one.  If it’s even half as good as Stranger Than Fiction was, this is going to be a nice flick to wedge between the non-stop blockbusters of the summer.

Aside - wanna feel old? The boy he befriends? That’s the Notorious B.I.G.’s SON!
