Arguably the biggest movie on a worldwide scale this Christmas is The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, the first of a series of 3D motion captured films featuring the classic European comic book character.

While I am not very familiar with the source material, I am a big fan of the talents involved.  With Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson co-directing, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish sharing the scripting duties alongside Steven Moffatt, a score by John Williams and a cast including Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, it’s pure geek nirvana.

And today, the hype kicks off with the reveal of the poster, above.  Tomorrow is supposed to bring the trailer, so consider this the first step in a very long journey to the holidays.

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn hits theaters on December 23rd.

EDIT: Apparently the above poster is the one for the UK Market! There’s a US one too, and thanks to Ain’t It Cool News, I’ve got it below. Enjoy!
