Like most movie nerds, I have a list of directors who I will follow into a movie no matter what. There are some which may be easy to predict (Christopher Nolan, Edgar Wright), but there are some you might not be aware of, like Jason Reitman.

With the excellent films Thank You For Smoking, Juno and Up in the Air under his belt, I’m pretty much game for any movie he has ready, and his latest is Young Adult.

Pairing Reitman once again with Juno scribe Diablo Cody, here’s the synopsis:

Academy Award(R) winner Charlize Theron plays Mavis Gary, a writer of teen literature who returns to her small hometown to relive her glory days and attempt to reclaim her happily married high school sweetheart (Patrick Wilson). When returning home proves more difficult than she thought, Mavis forms an unusual bond with a former classmate (Patton Oswalt) who hasn’t quite gotten over high school, either.
Intriguing, right? And having our old pal Patton in the cast can't hurt either.  Here's the trailer, it had me interested for sure.

Young Adult hits theaters on December 16th, 2011.
