One of the biggest conclusions I had coming out of my long-form review of all of the DC “New 52” was not just that comics needed to be cheaper, but so too did the digital copies.

I mean, offering digital copies at the same price as print (a ridiculous $4), and then only offering ONE book with a download code (Justice League, at an extra dollar premium, so…$5 for that) really sorta hurt the “same day digital” push, regardless of the impact it’s had on Comixology’s sales.

Marvel it seems, is coming a little closer to what I’m looking for. Just announced late last week, Marvel will be providing a FREE download code for (at least) the first three issues of their brand new Avenging Spider-Man series.

Avenging Spider-Man, a title combining hot writer Zeb Wells with fan favorite artist Joe Madureira in a super alliance similar to those found with Spider-Man and various Marvel Universe heroes within the book, has its first issue hit stands on November 9th. While the book is $4, I certainly feel like it’s bit more worth it, as it feels more like you’re paying $2 for a physical copy to go along your $2 digital edition.

Sure, it’s not the 99 cents per digital issue which I long for, but it’s a step in the better direction, and by God…I might just bite.

I’ve included a gallery of all 3 issues set to be included in this promotion, so you’ll know what to look for when you hit your local comics shop.
