Just a week or so ago, I was rambling on Facebook about how I am far too excited about the forthcoming Marvel and DC Super Hero lines of Legos, given that I am officially in my late 20s, rounding my way to 30.

That said, Lego just made a new licensing announcement that has me VERY VERY giddy - Lord of the Rings!

The first sets are scheduled to hit in Summer 2012, and I’d have to wager a Lego Lord of the Rings video game isn’t too far away, probably Hobbit sets too.

While preliminary images of the sets keep getting taken down across the net, here’s a list of what the initial sets should be:

  • “9469 Gandalf Arrives" — Minifigures: Gandalf, Frodo
  • “9470 Shelob Attacks" — Minifigures: Samwise, Frodo, Gollum
  • “9471 Uruk-hai Army" — Minifigures: x4 Uruk-hai with a siege crossbow, x1 Rohirrim Soldier, x1 Rider Of Rohan with his horse
  • “9472 Attack On Weathertop"- Minifigures: Samwise, Frodo, Aragon, x2 Nazgul
  • “9473 Mines Of Moria" — Minifigures: Frogo, Gimli, Legolas, Boromir, x2 Goblins, x2 Skeletons, Cave Troll
  • “9474 The Battle Of Helms Deep" — Minifigures: Aragon, Gimli, Legolas, Theoden, x5 Uruk-hai
So, will you become a member of the Adult Lego Collector army this Summer? Will you pass it on to your kids? Is it just a step too far for our favorite building block? Sound off in the comments.
