I Continue To Be Excited About THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN
As I feel like I’ve had to admit in very single post I’ve written about the forthcoming The Amazing Spider-Man, I am a lame duck for the character.
Spider-Man is and was the first fictional character I ever claimed as “mine”. I have, and continue to love the heck out of him, having Web of Spider-Man #3Â as the first thing I ever read at my own, at age 3, and now at 27, I still get giddy. Â That said - I really do feel like this movie might work out.
The first trailer was a little too Twilight-ish for my tastes, but this second one, it’s a bit closer. Â The webswinging looks practical as opposed to CG (if not just CG enhanced), there’s wise cracking, Garfield looks like a good modern Peter Parker and Emma Stone is nailing the Gwen Stacy feel. Â Yes, it’s a little too dark visually, and no, I don’t think we really need the origin told again, but I admit I am VERY intrigued to see what twists they add to the story we all already know.
Director Marc Webb came into this movie with a shit hand. People didn’t want Raimi leaving. After Spider-Man 3, people aren’t sure about a Spider-Man movie. And no one really seems to want the origin to be retold again…but this looks like a very fun and exciting film for Summer 2012. Â I will be there.
