Brick. The Brothers Bloom.

If you’ve seen those films, written and directed by the great Rian Johnson, chances are you love them. I’m one of the people who really does, and in turn, when he’s on a project I am sold. And his next movie is called Looper, a high concept sci-fi project if there ever was one.

Here’s the official synopsis, which is a bit brain bendy, but roll with it:

Time travel will be invented, but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper"—a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt)—is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good. . . until the day the mob decides to “close the loop," sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.
Awesome, right? Bruce Willis versus Joseph Gordon-Levitt in a crazy time travel flick. Add the adept and smart writing from Johnson, and you have a film which I am very much looking forward to.

Well, Sony wants you to look forward to it as well, so they started the big promotional push today by giving /Film the exclusive reveal of the official poster for the flick, which given that it’s a studio poster, is actually pretty cool. I really dig the time turny/playing card feel of it. You can click on it for a very high resolution version.

Looper is set to hit theaters on September 28th, 2012. I will be there.
