It’s very odd to be on the cusp of a packed Summer movie season and to already be looking forward to what’s due for Christmas, but given the line up this year, it’s hard to hide the excitement.

The holiday’s this year brings Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit; the psuedo-sequel to Knocked Up, This Is 40; Baz Lurhmann’s version of The Great Gatsby; and the reason why I’m writing the post - Quentin Tarantino’s latest, Django Unchained.

I featured the first teaser poster on here a bit ago, but today, Entertainment Weekly revealed the first two images of the slave revenge film, and I just had to showcase them.

This first image is of the titular Django (Jamie Foxx) alongside Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz), a German bounty hunter.  Django is liberated by Schultz and a journey begins to hunt down and kill Django’s former owners, The Brittle Brothers.

The second image is of one of the villains of the piece, Calvid Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), a plantation owner who runs “Candie Land” and likes to make his slaves fight to the death.

Suffice to say, the standard Tarantino traits of blood, guts and glory are sure to follow, and with a stacked cast that also includes Sacha Baron Cohen, Kurt Russell, Don Johnson and the mothaflippin' RZA, this could be a good one!

Django Unchained hits theaters on December 25th, 2012.
