Exploded 4s T-Shirt From TeeTrilogy.com - A Review
This is certainly different! In the past, I’ve been sent books to review, given passes for movies, or reviewed my weekly comics. But never have I ever been asked to review apparel.
That changed earlier this week, however, when I received a friendly email from the folks at TeeTrilogy.com.
They’re the people behind the awesome “exploded” electronics designs you might have seen across the web over the years, including exploded Nintendo Zappers, Atari’s and Apple products, and their latest project focuses directly on Mac based products, split into a diagram of their working parts on a t-shirt or poster.
Luckily for them, I’m a big t-shirt fan, with my closets and drawers overflowing with classy tees. One email later, they had shipped me an Asphalt “Exploded 4s” tee to check out.
So, what do I think? Well, it’s a pretty damn nice shirt.
Printed on a high quality American Apparel tee, you pretty much know from the brand that you’re going to get a quality shirt with a nice cut. If you’ve never worn an American Apparel shirt before, know that it is a snugger cut, so you might want to go a size up. For me, an American Apparel medium fits great, so that’s what I went with. Soft fabric and a nice wear all the way. See, I’m very excited about wearing it.
The design itself, put together by artist Garry Booth, is (as nearest as I can tell) laid out in a nice water based ink, so the shirt doesn’t feel overly plastic-y, and keeps the soft touch of the American Apparel tee. It’s also a really cool blow up of arguably one of the coolest phones of all time, giving you a unique design that might take people a second or two to get, but once they do, they’ll love it.
So, if you’re wanting to pick up one for yourself, the shirt is going for just $19 (plus $5 shipping), but you can also pick it up as a part of a “Tee Trilogy”, picking up 3 shirts for just $43 (plus $8 shipping). Past designs include Exploded iPads, Exploded Macs, and even some steampunky looking breakdowns of iPhones and Macs from blast-o-rama favorite Kevin Tong. It’s a heck of a deal, and if the rest of the shirts are as nice as this, you’ll end up with some classy and comfortable nerdy threads. Go ahead and make it happen now, at TeeTrilogy.com.
Thanks again to Dion from TeeTrilogy for sending me the sample shirt.
EDIT: It seems thanks to my pal Rosscott, the image of me from the review is getting meme’d.
