I don’t know about you, but one of the more enjoyable things for me is when a movie (such as those from Pixar) are accompanied by a short. It harkens back to the days of old, when going to a movie theater meant news reels and a multiple feature format.  You just feel more like you’re part of an event.

That said, Fox is hoping more people are like me, as Sunday night, they announced that Ice Age: Continental Drift will be accompanied by a brand new Simpsons short, starring Maggie Simpson, titled The Longest Daycare. Here’s the brief announcement video.

Besides the title, and the fact that it will be in 3D, no more details are really known. I do wonder - with The Simpsons nearer to the end of its run on TV - is this the first hint of a 3D Simpsons Movie 2, or just a test for more shorts? Time will tell.
