As The Avengers enters its fourth week of box-office dominance, it’s got to be nice to be Disney and Marvel Studios.

So nice, in fact, they’ve decided to share with us in advance how exactly they’ll put the whipped cream on top of their sundae - with stacked Blu-Ray and DVD releases.

Set to hit shelves on September 25th, 2012, we’ll see 3 flavors of release - 4-disc set including Blu-Ray 3D, Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital Copy Editions, a 2-disc Blu-Ray and DVD (most likely my pickup), and even a single disc DVD edition.  We’ll be seeing an alternate opening, an alternate ending, deleted scenes, a new short film and even more behind the scenes fun in the extras. I expect to see many of these in nerd’s Christmas stockings this year.
