With Prometheus hitting theaters across the globe today (and here in the states on the 8th), there seems to be a certain level of Alien based excitement going around.

I’ve felt since watching them for the first time late last year (yeah, I know) and rewatching all 4 films over the weekend that the original 1979 Alien is still the best in the series.  Most people are fans of the creature and the action presented in Aliens, but there’s something about the “lost where no one can find you, what the HELL IS THAT” feeling of the original film that just draws me in every time.

Clearly, I’m not the only one who feels this way, as artist NE over at New Flesh Prints has put together a print celebrating the original film titled “Special Order 937”.

It’s an absolutely haunting collage, mixing the landscapes from the original film with a side view of Ripley in her space suit, plus the infamous directive that makes everything go wrong. What’s even cooler is, the print brings together the feeling of the film without even a single hint of the Xenomorph creature that has defined it.

If you’re looking to get a copy of this print, congrats, it goes on sale Today at 11am EST. The print is limited to a run of just 75, and the 18" x 24" print is a shockingly low $25!  You’ll have to head to NewFleshPrints.com to grab it.

There also was a gold variant of the print, limited to just 15, but it sold out as a part of New Flesh’s summer subscription, which I unfortunately couldn’t report to you as I didn’t know about them before this morning!

New Flesh and artist NE seem to be making a name for themselves in the Gallery scene (the Iron Man print they did for the Gallery 1988 ‘Assemble’ show is particularly amazing) so don’t be surprised to see them pop up on the blog more in the future. In the meantime, 11am - get yourself a copy of “Special Order 937”.
