Remember when those really cool, kinda realistic YouTube videos for Mortal Kombat hit the web?

And then we got all excited, because the success of them lead to their creator, Kevin Tancharoen, getting the nod by Warner Bros. to direct the movie reboot?

Yeah, lets tone down that excitement a bit.

The team at Bloody-Disgusting.com got a hold of the screenplay and well…uh, the entrance point for the audience is a unique one, to say the least.

Sayeth them…

...the live-action reboot will follow a lowly unlucky supermarket employee who discovers that he has out of this world powers and must decide between good and evil, even though the evil side has helped him discover his true potential and who he really is.
Remember when the original movie from the mid-90s actually turned out pretty good?

I can’t really put my finger on why it was good, but I think have had to do with the fact that the movie followed the plot of the game and just gave us the damn tournament.

Too much to ask? I guess so.

I’ll keep an eye on this MK remake. Here’s hoping we’re moving our way up from here.
