A few weeks back, I mentioned the synopsis of Neill Blomkamp’s District 9 follow up, Elysium.

The sci-fi allegory for the immigration debate is getting closer and closer to release, and thanks to (you guessed it), the SDCC 2012 issue of Entertainment Weekly, we have our first official still from the film, featuring Matt Damon with a gun so huge that even Rob Liefeld would go “Damn! That’s huge!”

I’m still hoping for a proper trailer so that we can understand the scope of the film, but from what I’ve seen so far, Elysium continues run of Blomkamp’s thought provoking yet visually striking sci-fi films.

Elysium is set to hit theaters on March 1, 2013.
