SDCC 2012: Joe Cornish Lines Up ANOTHER Project - RUST
I knew that when Attack the Block hit that Joe Cornish was going to become an in-demand director, but this is getting crazy!
Just a month after accepting the director’s slot for the long awaited adaptation of Snow Crash, Cornish has signed on with Fox to adapt the graphic novel called Rust.
I’ve yet to read Rust, but with it’s description of involving a boy with a jetpack and a giant robot, it’s decidedly in something that I want to see in live action.
Here’s the full and proper synopsis:
Rust is a high-octane adventure set in the prairie lands of an unknown time. Life on the Taylor family farm was difficult enough before Jet Jones crashes into the barn, chased by a giant decommissioned war robot! Oldest son Roman Taylor struggles to keep his family’s small farm afloat as the area heals from a devastating world war. While the rest of his family may not trust the mysterious boy with the jetpack, Roman believes the secrets of Jet’s past may be the key to their survival.First, can I say that Jet Jones is like, the greatest name ever?
Secondly, I really think that Cornish will do great with this - as Attack the Block showed, he’s great with younger casts, and he can produce fun and frantic action, albeit shot clean and clear, unlike many other directors these days.
It must be a nice day to be Rust creator Royden Lepp, and you better believe I’ll be checking out the source material.
