While I tend to focus on the efforts of the works of Hot Toys in the “premium figure” (read: dolls for nerd boys) market, there are some other companies that are creating figures that are just as nice, if not better.

One such company is ThreeA, which was created by comic artist Ashley Wood.  In their short four year history, ThreeA has put together some amazing figures, immediately lusted after by the toy collecting community.  Now that they’ve finally started to play in the basket of licensed figures, ThreeA should be breaking out huge, and I think their latest license pickup, Halo will definitely put them in the forefront.

Releasing on Wednesday, August 1st, these first two figures don’t go the obvious route, they aren’t doing Master Chief off the bat. Instead, the first figure is that of Commander Carter, with a limited online-only variant designed as a Spartan MKV Commando.

These 13.5" figures include fiber-optic lighting in the armor and helmets, highly detailed and articulated bodies, and even magnetized accessories.  The quality, as usual, comes with a price, as they will be retailing for $200 each.

If you’re game, the figures go on sale next Wednesday, and should be available at this link. Good luck!
