In the news that broke the internet this week, it was announced that taking the lead villain role in the forthcoming Thor sequel Thor: The Dark World will be Christopher Eccleston.

Best known in the US for his role in the first season of Heroes, or known worldwide for his portrayal as the Ninth Doctor in the 2005 reboot of Doctor Who, Eccleston will be taking on the role of Malekith the Accursed, leader of the Dark Elves. Clearly, the “dark world” in the title of the forthcoming 2013 sequel is that of the realm of the elves, and we will be seeing Chris Hemsworth fighting some pointy eared bastards this time around.

Thor: The Dark World is set to hit theaters on November 8th, 2013.
