I realize that as a Baltimore native, it’s kind of a given that I’d love the music of Wye Oak. And I do, but I swear it’s not due to my geographical location.  They’re just an amazing duo, creating a stunning wall of sound, wrapped around the smoky and etherial vocals of lead singer/guitarist Jenn Wasner.

So, of course, now that Wasner is working on solo material as well, I had to get all sorts of hyped about it.

Under the name Flock of Dimes, Wasner went on a brief tour earlier this year, and now she’s prepping her first official release, a 7" record featuring the song “Curtain” backed with “Apparition”. The sound is equally similar to, and completely unlike, the Wye Oak material, but closer in sound to the free [adult swim] single Wye Oak released earlier this year.  Simply put, it’s wonderfully sublime, and I can’t wait to hear more from her.

The single officially releases on September 25th, but you can stream “Curtain” now. Check it out, and hopefully you’ll enjoy!
