It’s been 4 years since the Will Ferrel/John C. Reilly comedy Step Brothers hit theaters, and while it didn’t change the world, it sure was damn funny.

I mean, it wasn’t for lack of trying, it just came out after The Dark Knight, and honestly, I think anything would have a hard time following that up.  But I’ve had the pleasure of following back up with the movie over the past few years on multiple occasions, and it holds up as a delightfully surreal film, perhaps one of Ferrel’s underrated comedic roles.

Apparently, I’m not the only one who feels this way, as this past Friday night, Gallery 1988 opened up a tribute art show to the film, which will be open in their Venice, California location through September 22nd.

The lineup for the show features many of their regulars, and all gave some great work to the project, some doing standard fare, others really going all out. What pieces are my favorite? Personally, I love Mike Mitchell’s “Fancy Sauce” piece, and I love how Oliver Barrett’s piece incorporates Huff and Doback’s bizarre sleep talk.

A gallery of the work appears below, but having just visited their New York based Crazy 4 Cult 4 show a few weekends back, I cannot underline how great it is to take these pieces in in person.

Gallery 1988’s Venice location is at 214 Pier Avenue in Santa Monica, CA, zip 90405. If you can, go see yourself some awesome art. It’ll be a great time. Promise.
