Talib Kweli + Z-Trip + Attack The Block = Mixtape Awesomeness!
Hands down, one of my favorite MCs in the world of hip-hop is Talib Kweli.
He first grabbed my attention as one half of Black Star alongside Mos Def, and his 2002 solo album Quality put him on the map for me as a top-tier talent.
Later this year, Talib will be releasing a new album titled Prisoner of Conscious, and to hype the release, he’s joined forces with producer/DJ Z-Trip for a new mixtape titled Attack the Block.
Yes, like THAT Attack the Block, the movie which was my favorite of 2011, and featured the amazing score from Basement Jaxx.
The opening track is Attack the Block themed, and samples dialogue from the film alongside the bomb-ass score, and is a must listen. Check it out.
