Between creating a new hour of stand up every year, selling his own show tickets, and writing, starring, producing and handling damn near everything else on his Emmy award winning show Louie, it’s hard to imagine that there is a man on this planet busier than Louis CK.

You ask - how will he follow up his amazing 3rd season? By taking a break.

Alongside FX Network president John Landgraf in a press conference today, Louis CK announced that the 4th season of the show will not go into production until September or October of 2013, to allow Louis a longer period of time to write, a’la the extended hiatus seen with Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO.

Further more, Louis noted that he hopes the series to go for 9 seasons, with each 3 season arc counting as a “trilogy” of sorts. The 4th Season, now set to premiere in Spring 2014, would mark the beginning of a new arc.

Louis CK will be spending the rest of the year on tour, so expect a new special from him sometime in 2013.
