While the RZA’s directorial dÁ©but The Man With The Iron Mask is still a few weeks out from release, that isn’t stopping him from lining up his next project.

Just announced last night was his official signing to produce and direct an adaptation of Happy!, the new creator-owned comic written by Grant Morrison (All-Star Superman, The Invisibles) with art by Darick Robertson (Transmetropolitan, The Boys).

A gritty crime drama (to a point), Happy! stars Nick Sax as the lead, a foul-mouthed hitman and former cop, who is terribly injured in a hit gone wrong.  As he awakens in the hospital, he finds himself able to see and communicate with an adorable blue cartoon horse. Yeah, it’s that kind of book.

The first issue hit last week, and is already receiving rave reviews.  Grant Morrison is set to pen the script, insuring that the adaptation from panels to screen should be mostly painless.

The RZA’s The Man With The Iron Mask hits theaters on November 2nd, and the first issue of Happy! is on shelves now, with issue #2 scheduled to release end of the month.
