Children of the 80's Get Hype: LEGO and TMNT Combine Forces!
This weekend is New York Comic Con, and much how San Diego Comic Con has become the big event of the Summer for all things nerd, NYCC is filling the East Coast void as becoming the big geek show of the fall.  In turn, expect a lot of announcements from this weekend to pop up on the site.
The first big announcement comes from the lovely Danish folks at LEGO, who are making the dream of many kids of my generation by announcing the first in their series of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sets.
Based on the brand new Nickelodeon series (which I haven’t seen yet - any good?), there will be multiple sets in the line, but the first showcased is the Shellraiser Street Chase.  This $60 set includes the Shellraiser (which appears to be the modern version of the Party Van), a pizza truck, and 5 different mini figures (Leonardo, Michelangelo and the villains of the Krang, a foot solider and a dog pound).
I assume additional sets are coming, as they’ve also revealed the first images of mini figures to appear in further sets, which include (of course) Raphael and Donatello, Splinter, and of course, SHREDDER!
This is awesome.  No release date is announced at this time, but I’d expect early next year.
