Fresh off the NYCC floor, we have a new piece of promotional art for Guillermo Del Toro’s next big thing, his giant monsters versus robots movie, Pacific Rim.

The poster, appearing above, is a wonderfully brilliant piece of propaganda style art featuring the Jaegers, which is what they are calling the giant mechs in the universe of the film.

Del Toro is appearing at NYCC this weekend, and announced something very cool for people looking forward to the movie - there will be an official prequel graphic novel!

Set before the film, the comic (published by Legendary Comics) is written by the film’s screenwriter Travis Beacham (Clash of the Titans) and covers the story of the world of the film from the first attack by a giant monster, right up until the opening of the flick.  No word on artists or release date yet, but once we have it, we’ll share it.

Pacific Rim is set to hit theaters on July 12th, 2013.
