With the 75th anniversary of Superman coming up in 2013, plus the new Zack Snyder directed movie Man of Steel hitting theaters, it’s only proper that DC Comics goes all out in celebrating the last son of Krypton, right?

At NYCC yesterday they announced the crown jewel in their plans for Superman next year - a brand new ongoing written by Batman writer Scott Snyder and drawn by superstar artist and DC co-publisher Jim Lee.

The first piece of preview art is posted above, and while the comic has yet to be officially titled or dated, it’s a clear big name move from DC to make an impact in the world of comics.  If Snyder’s Superman is half as good as his run on Batman to date, this will be an absolute must read. And say what you will about Jim Lee’s art, but he has a clear following, and he’s coming off of a very successful run on Justice League, so I have little doubt the fans will follow.

Once we know the title or date, we’ll let you know, but until then, let your imagination run wild.
