It’s easy to forget, but New York Comic Con is actually all about the comics.

Earlier today, DC Comic’s mature readers imprint, Vertigo revealed two new projects from two of the biggest creators today.

Coming in 2013 from Jeff Lemire (Sweet Tooth, The Underwater Welder, Animal Man) is the intriguing Trillium.  Described as a love story taking place 100 years in the past and concurrently thousands of years of the future, this will be unlike anything Lemire has done to date.  He will be both writing and drawing the 10 issue series.  As Lemire is still winding down Sweet Tooth, you shouldn’t expect this until later in 2013.  A full interview went up on Comic Book Resources earlier today.

Also announced for next year is the next Vertigo series from Scott Snyder (Batman, American Vampire, Swamp Thing) - The Wake.

Teaming up with Snyder will be artist Sean Murphy (Hellblazer). Details are sketchy on this one, besides a Spring 2013 release date, but how cool is that preview art?

EDIT: No sooner than I hit publish, Comic Book Resources has an exclusive interview on The Wake, too! This sounds really great - a sci-fi/monster mashup that should wind up rather exciting.
