One of my favorite joys of the infancy of The Food Network was the fantastic US presentation of Fuji TV’s Iron Chef (which, in a round about way, I can thank for my work with Super Art Fight, I suppose).

It’s been 13 years since the proper Kitchen Stadium in Japan was closed, but on October 26th, the proper version of Iron Chef returns.

Sadly, however, Chairman Kaga will not be along for the ride. It was revealed today that the new host will be Hiroshi Tamaki, best known for his appearances in several Japanese films and TV dramas.  If you ask me, he’s a little too pretty to follow Kaga, but then again, I’d probably be skeptical of anyone taking on the cape.

No word on if or when Food Network will bring this version of Iron Chef to the states, but hopefully it will be soon!
