The road for World War Z from fantastic novel by Max Brooks to big Summer blockbuster starring Brad Pitt has been a bumpy one, fraught with re-shoots and budget issues.  But still, with a basis as strong as the book, a fictionalized oral history of a world-wide undead epidemic, it had to turn out good, right?

Well, the first trailer hit today and it looks…pretty damn generic. Here, take a look yourself.

Honestly, the whole thing has a 2012 by 28 Weeks Later feel. And I wish I were more into it than that.

If you were a fan of the book, you know that the best way for the project to translate, at least literally, would be to go mocumentary. Instead, we have something which feels like World War Z in name only.

Could it still be a good movie? Sure. But…I can’t say that, as a fan of the book, I’m entirely pleased at how this looks. How do you feel?

World War Z hits theaters June 21st, 2013.
