After rumors over the years about how Wayne’s World 2 caused a rift between Dana Carvey and Mike Myers, I never thought I’d be able to say this, however - it looks like Wayne’s World 3 just may happen.

Of course, back in February 2011, they did make a surprise appearance in character on SNL when Carvey hosted (seen below), but even still, I never thought we’d see the series continue.

According to JoBlo.com (via Entertainment Weekly), however, this is exactly what’s going to happen, and Mike Myers is currently finishing the first draft of the script.

Sayeth them:

The story is said to focus on, "Wayne and Garth coping with the new era of music, transitioning from access cable to streaming internet (ala YouTube) and Wayne balancing his marriage to Cassandra."
Honestly, this could work - taking the Wayne and Garth characters and thrusting them into the modern world and seeing how jarring the transition has been for them.

Of course, I have my worries - the last major starring roles we saw from them in theaters (respectively, The Love Guru and The Master of Disguise) were awful, to say the least. Not to mention, Myers is currently 49 and Carvey is 57. Given that there is no start date, could we still love a 50-year-old Wayne and 60-year-old Garth?

Here’s hoping it’s not another Blues Brothers 2000 situation. Wayne’s World 1 & 2 hold a special place in my heart, and to see them tempered by a poor third installment would be sad to say the least. But if they pull it off?
