Gallery 1988 Celebrates The Work of Judd Apatow With 'A Tribute To Judd Apatow'
Over the past 10 years, there has rarely been a comedic talent so influential and important as Judd Apatow.
Mixing heart with over the top, vulgar and sometimes completely gross humor, he’s created and overseen some of the best comedic works of the modern era in both film and television.
Just in time for the release of his latest film, This is 40, Gallery 1988 is celebrating his work in a show titled appropriately enough, A Tribute To Judd Apatow.
Featuring artwork from landmark television programs like Freaks and Geeks to such classic comedy films as Anchorman, The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Superbad, this truly is a great artistic look back at the work of Judd Apatow. Sure, there are some works I would have liked to have seen featured better (looking at you, Undeclared and Funny People), but it’s an amazingly well curated show.
I particularly love the gross body hair art for The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and the dual purpose Anchorman/Garbage Pail Kids homage.
If you’d like to see the show in person, it opens tomorrow night and can be viewed through December 30th.
The show is at Gallery 1988’s Melrose location (7020 Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, CA), and artwork will be available for sale on Gallery1988.com starting on Wednesday.
As always, we present a preview gallery of art below.
