Releasing on June 7th, 2013, After Earth is another far flung sci-fi film for the year, featuring Will Smith and his son Jaden (The Karate Kid) as a father and son who crash land onto Earth 1,000 years after humanity has abandoned it, and are forced to fight for their own survival.

The first trailer has hit the web, and I have to say, it hits all of the right notes, for as bored as I’ve become with Will Smith as a performer.

What is interesting, however, is how the movie doesn’t push its director, the one time huge name M. Night Shyamalan. While his position in the directors chair has me worried and already predicting the twist ending, the first trailer has me rather optimistic about After Earth. What say you, dear reader?
